Who We Are


Joanne D. Johnson
Joanne D. Johnson is the President and CEO of Unity Systems, Inc. (USI). She has a degree in Mathematics from the Virginia Union University, a Masters degree in Software Engineering from the Central Michigan University, and a MCSE Certificate.

Prior Management experience before USI, Ms. Johnson was a Deputy Director for Creative Technology, Inc. and the Y2K Program Director for Quality Systems, Inc. Also, she worked in senior positions with General Electric and Computer Sciences Corporation in the areas of Information Technology and Test and Integration. While gaining over 30 years of Federal Government contracting experience in software development, software testing, network engineering, close support and configuration management, she repeatedly won business for these companies as well gained respect from the many customers. Ms. Johnson is known in the intelligence community for her strong customer-service skills, leadership skills, and demonstrated trustworthiness.

Ms. Johnson as of January 2002 manages a staff of professionals with backgrounds in engineering, computer sciences, network engineering, close support, configuration management, and integration and testing. She has won several IT contracts with five option years. The current contracts are with Federal clients and now expanding to the Fortune 500 clients.



Matthew K. Middleton
Matthew K. Middleton is COO and CFO of USI. Mr. Middleton has a degree in Systems Engineering with a concentration in Management Information Systems from the University of Virginia. He has been to various Program Management and Information Security training and holds CCNA and MCSE Certificates.

Prior to USI, Mr. Middleton was a Team Lead for Creative Technology, Inc. and a Systems Engineer for Lockheed Martin. He provided a wide range of network, software, hardware, and information security experience and has supported customers through various tier levels. Mr. Middleton has always enjoyed solving complex problems and resolving security and organizational limitations.

Mr. Middleton is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the company and ensuring continued efficiencies. He is also responsible for the financial management of the company. Mr. Middleton serves directly on contract in various project management and technical expertise capacities.
